WCS Football Kept Playoff Streak Alive

High school football playoffs start up on Friday night across the state of Oklahoma.

We have six high schools within shouting distance in the postseason.

Wesleyan Christian School squeaked into the playoffs for the fifth straight year after back-to-back wins over Arkoma and Gans toward the end of the season.

Wilson handled WCS in Week 10 last week, beating the Mustangs 70-20. That loss snapped the two-game win streak for Wesleyan Christian.

Despite the loss, there were positive signs. Wilson had not surrendered a point in District play until the 20 WCS scored on Friday. Head coach Blaine Landers talks about his team’s loss this past weekend.

Wesleyan Christian has won playoff games in back-to-back seasons, but that will be a tougher task this time around. The Mustangs travel to 10-0 Covington Douglas on Friday night for their first-round game in Class B-II.

Landers says keeping the playoff streak and getting younger guys postseason experience is key.
