Bartlesville High Football Playoffs Friday

Bartlesville High football is looking for its third season in a row with a playoff win.

The Bruins head to Putnam City for a matchup with the Pirates.

BHS won three games in a row at the end of the regular season to play itself into the 5-seed out of 6A-II District 2 at 3-7 overall.

Bartlesville turned young for the final three weeks, with freshman and newcomers taking over on both sides of the ball. About half the lineup is finishing its first season playing varsity football.

Head coach Harry Wright says the guys are playing loose and have had a good week of practice in preparation.

Putnam City enters at 6-4. The Pirates have lost two of their last three, including a loss against Piedmont last week that dropped them to the 4-seed in 6A-II District 1.

The Putnam City defense is one of the most vaunted in the whole classification. Four guys have NCAA D-I scholarship offers on that side of the ball.

However, PC has also struggled offensively at times. Wright says Bartlesville needs a good night from the Bruin defense to get a win.
